Built On Solid Foundations

The Leaders of Dewitt

Todd Saieed and Ven Poole, second generation family friends and industry leaders, joined forces in 1997 to form the Raleigh-based real estate development corporation known as Dewitt Carolinas. Saieed and Poole approach business with honesty, integrity, and attention to details. These are prominent qualities that Saieed and Poole have instilled in the Dewitt Team. The company is named after Saieed’s paternal grandfather, Dewitt Jernigan Carr. Carr’s legacy of honesty and hard work, combined with Saieed and Poole’s fathers’ entrepreneurial spirit, are the backbone of Dewitt’s success.

Saieed graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in construction management and land planning. Under Saieed’s leadership over the last 20 years, he grew a small family general contracting company into one of the region’s leading contracting firms. Saieed’s vision in land planning and experience in construction bring a unique blend of expertise evident in every Dewitt project.

Our projects begin with user expectations and Dewitt Carolinas goal is always to exceed those.

– Todd Saieed

Poole graduated from North Carolina State University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. Upon graduation Poole worked for Martin Marietta Orlando Aerospace for six years as a senior engineer in its systems engineering group before joining Waste Industries, his family’s waste disposal company, in 1990. After serving in risk management, procurement, human resources, engineering and corporate development roles at Waste Industries, Poole took the position of Chairman and CEO in 2008. Under Poole’s leadership, the family business grew to become one of the largest and most respected privately held solid waste management companies in the country; in 2018 Waste Industries merged with GFL Environmental, where Poole now serves on the Board of Directors. Bolstered by his deep well of experience across all aspects of operations, planning, and corporate leadership, Poole’s analytical approach and strategic thinking help solidify the success of each Dewitt project.
